Overview
Irish citizens — including former Indian citizens who have not yet received OCI — need a visa to visit India. Ireland is eligible for India's e-Visa, which covers tourism, business, medical visits and more.
Some travellers need a regular paper visa through the Embassy of India in Dublin instead. We help you choose the right option, complete the application accurately and prepare the supporting documents.
The Government of India decides e-Visa applications, and the Embassy decides regular visas. Always use the official government website — the government charges no 'express' fee.

Indian Visit Visa FAQs
I've just become an Irish citizen — how do I visit India before OCI?
Once your Indian passport has been surrendered, you can apply for an Indian e-Visa on your Irish passport while your OCI application is processed.
How early should I apply for an e-Visa?
You can apply up to 120 days before arrival and at least four days before. We recommend applying well before you travel.
Do I need a visa if I have OCI?
No. OCI works as a lifelong visa, but you still need a valid passport and must complete the e-Arrival card.
Does the Embassy in Dublin handle e-Visa queries?
No. e-Visa queries go to the Government of India's e-Visa helpline. The Embassy handles regular visas.
